As a sailor, solitude is something you have to get used to, on occasions. You rarely sail in close company with other yachts, and you may be by yourself for many days, or even weeks if you are on a very long passage. Of course when you come into a harbour, you may be surrounded by other boats.
Sometimes you may be at anchor and choose to experience solitude in a tiny bay by yourself. When the sun goes down you may experience an amazing sunset, and the sea could be perfectly still and quiet. Later, you can look up at the wonderful display of stars in a clear sky. This is probably the best type of solitude…….
