Thursday Doors – a very old church.

For Norm’s Thursday Doors this week, I’m showing you a very old church door we found on our country walk at Minstead village in the New Forest ……

All Saints church at Minstead is really rather special.  From a distance, it looks like a collection of small cottages, until you see the tower.   The interior layout is also unusual.  There has been a church on this site from the 1200s, and parts of this original building still remain, although it has been extended several times over the centuries.   The stone doorframe dates from the 1300s, while the porch itself was a later addition in the 17th century.

To read more about the fascinating history of this very old church, have a look at the  church website.
