Which Way? A walk through the graveyard at Minstead.

Continuing my series of   country walks, I am pleased to report that my boots are holding up well and showing no signs of leaking.  I was also very pleased that unlike our previous walk  we did not get lost!

This week we drove into the New Forest, and started our walk at Minstead.  This is a picturesque place, with a village green, a pub, a tea shop, and a little church.

We walked through the lychgate and into the churchyard.

All Saints Church is very old, with parts of it dating back to Saxon times – 12th century.

In the churchyard is the grave of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of the Sherlock Holmes stories, amongst other great works of literature.

We followed the path along the side of the church, through the gate, and walked towards the woods.

It was very frosty, and there were patches of ice on the road.

Although it was cold, it was a lovely clear day, with blue skies as we walked along the country roads.

We eventually found ourselves back at the village green. There are some stocks there, which have been there since the 1800s.   We retired to the village pub for a refreshing drink.

I hope you enjoyed taking a country walk, and taking part in Cee’s Which Way Challenge.
