Spread a little sunshine!

I’m a Sunshine Blogger!

Now, I know some of you experienced bloggers don’t recognise any blogging awards, or accept them, but as I have only been writing my blog for less than a year, I need all the help I can get, and I am really grateful to the 400 or so people who have bothered to follow me up to now. Yes, it does take a bit of time to write the answers and nominate people for the award, but I’m happy to do it as someone took the time to pass the award on to me.

The winner takes it all….

Goodness, I’ve won another award!  I’m blushing…

Thank you very much to my blog buddy for nominating me.

I won’t have enough room on my Brownie uniform for any more badges soon….. said me never…. I was a rubbish Brownie, I only got the Hostess badge, which everyone got anyway, just for getting enrolled and making tea for the parents.

I did slightly better in the guides, I got two badges.  I got the Pathfinder badge because we did tracking in the woods and I made arrows with sticks and I knew 8 points of the compass.   I also got House Orderly.  House Orderly!  The one and only time I have had an orderly house was when I was in the guides…. Never since then has my house been orderly……

I’ve got to nominate some other blogs that I love.

I honestly can’t remember if I’ve nominated any of these before, but they are my current favourites.

Funkymrsnutts is just the funniest person ever.  She should be a stand-up comedian.  Maybe she is.  But she just cracks me up every time.  Please read her blog.

Harold takes some lovely photos and I love looking at them.

Tabby the cat might not accept an award, she is a precocious feline but what she writes is hilarious and I have tears running down my cheeks when I read this blog.

Jessica. I chose her because she is very pretty and has the same name as my daughter.

Esther Newton is probably too sophisticated to accept this award, she is a proper joined-up writing person who knows everything about books and writing and her blog has given me loads of hints and tips.  Thank you Esther.

…. now I have to give you seven facts about me….

I am left handed, artistic and creative.
I am a Scorpio,  very secretive and I do bear grudges.
We have a cat called Artemis who lives on our boat with us.
I like attempting cryptic crosswords.
I have a Masters’ degree in Psychology
My favourite food is a roast dinner
I used to be quite a good swimmer.
I’ve never been on a motorbike.
My favourite colour is turquoise blue
I don’t like vacuuming or dusting.

I can be very sulky.   I have won prizes for sulking.  I can sulk for weeks on end, which is pathetic.

I don’t like sticking to rules.  That’s 12 facts…..

That’s it.  Good night.

If you want to join in, here are the rules.

You must thank the person who nominated you and link their blog in the post.

# You must include the rules and add the blog award badge as an image.

# You add 7 facts about yourself

# Then nominate at least 5 people and let them know by commenting on their blog!

I’m a Sunshine Blogger!

Are you on my list?

I have been very kindly nominated by Sarah to receive the Sunshine blogger award.
I have no idea why she chose my blog, but I am very honoured to accept it.

Award Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you.
2. Answer the questions from your nominator.
3. Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions.

I know that some bloggers are refusing to take part in these blogging awards. Maybe if you have been blogging for a while and have thousands of followers it would be a little meaningless to you, but as I have only been blogging seriously since January, I am always grateful to anyone who bothers to read my blog and I am happy to make the effort to pass on this award.  So even if you haven’t got time to decide on your nominations, you could at least answer the questions and make a pingback/link to your nominator!

My answers to Sarah‘s questions …..

How would you describe your blogging style?

Chatty, as though I was having a conversation with you. Occasionally humorous, I like to think you could tell what I was like by reading my blog.

What do you do in your spare time (when not blogging)?

In my spare time I like all types of cooking. I have recently taken up sewing again, after a long interval, I love my sewing machine, I love buying random pieces of fabric, I like making home made gifts and toys for my grandchildren, and I’m trying some patchwork.

In the future where do you hope your blog will take you?

In the future I would like to do more freelance writing for magazines, so I hope someone will read my blog and offer me work!

How do you want to improve yourself in the next year?

Difficult question – I would like to stop being Mrs Grumpy and be Mrs Happy instead. I am a bit of a pessimist and can’t always see the good things in life.

Why do you write a blog?

Similar question to the one above – I write a blog as it is s good way to get to meet new people, to find people with similar interests, and to get my writing noticed and hope someone will offer me freelance work.

What is your favourite thing about yourself?

As I’m a pessimist I would say nothing, but I will be positive and say I am brilliant at amusing and looking after my grandchildren, aged 3, 3, 1 and 1. I am very good at doing lots of things at the same time. I am a very organised person, good at time keeping and meeting deadlines. I am excellent at finding out information, good at Internet research, and also I’m a very good driver.

Who is someone you admire and why?
I don’t know. Anything I say will sound glib. Maybe I admire my friend Sue as she also lives on a boat with her husband, but she gets so much more involved in the boat handling and boat work, she is always positive and cheerful. I wish I was more like her.

What is your favourite blog to read and why?

I really like Windtraveler written by an American lady called Britney, she lives on a boat full-time in the Caribbean with her husband and three girls. She has a three year old and twin girls under two. She is always so happy and positive, never seems to get stressed, posts regularly, lovely photos. It can’t be easy for her looking after three small children on a boat!

What is the most important thing to you?

Making other people happy.

Who is your favourite fictional character?

Dr Kay Scarpetta – the forensic investigator in Patricia Cornwell’s series of books. I love a good crime mystery, and an autopsy! Search for www.patriciacornwell.com

What is a random fact about yourself?

I have been to 16 schools and lived in 44 different houses. My father was in the RAF and we moved around a lot when I was young, and this pattern continued in my later life, too. At the moment I live on a boat, and I describe myself as a floating gypsy….

So I am choosing the following blogs, for the reason that they have captured my attention, have a good design, or I have left a comment, or they have answered some of my recent questions. You may choose to receive the award or not, as you see fit…..

The story of my life

My questions for you…

The name and type of your first pet?
Where do you live now?
Do you have brothers and sisters?
How long have you been blogging?
What would you do if you won five million pounds/euros/dollars?
What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Who would you like to play you in a film of your adult life?.
What food do you most dislike?
What would be your dream job?
What special power would you like to have?
Tell me one random fact about yourself.

Good Luck!  I look forward to reading your answers!
