Well, we made it. We’ve left our yacht Fandancer in Greece for the winter. She’s in the boatyard and we flew back to London on Sunday, then took a coach, a train, a catamaran ferry then another train to get to our home in Ryde, Isle of Wight. Continue reading
For this week’s Thursday Doors I’ve found some traditionally British doors from an allotment. I’m not sure whether other countries have allotments, which are smsll plots of land you rent cheaply from the Council, so you can grow your own vegetables, fruit, whatever you wish. They are always well-tended areas, but the sheds that people put up on their allotment are always very higgledy-pigglely…… Continue reading
Two local windows this week – in my town of Romsey in Hampshire there is an early medieval building known as King John’s House . It was originally thought to be built around 1206 and used as King John’s hunting lodge, but later investigation showed that it dates from the mid-13th century.
